A lifetime to go.
The first week went well. I got movement in 6 out of the 7 days. New’s Year Day I woke up and the kids and I did a stretching video. We played Just Dance and did some yoga before bed. Monday-Thursday I went to the Y. Each day I did some stretching, 15 minutes of some kind of cardio; switching it up each day (side note: I despise the stair stepper but I did manage to do the equivalent of climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa). I then move onto the machines because I just don’t feel savvy enough to do free weights on my own. I switch between lower and upper body each day starting with lower weight and high reps doing 3 sets of each exercise. On Saturday, I got a babysitter and Justin and I headed to Features Fieldhouse to play pickle ball. The kids got him pickle ball racquets and balls for Christmas. He played a lot when he lived down south but I had never played. It was actually a lot of fun and although we didn’t play with whatever the pickle ball rules are, I was way better at actually hitting the ball than I expected.

Friday morning I did my first weigh in. It had only been 4 days, but Fridays will be my regular weigh in day so I just went for it. I was down 4 lbs. which I was super pleased with. I decided this time around that I was going to be more realistic with nutrition so that it’s a plan that I will hopefully be able to stick to for a lifetime. The one thing I did give up was soda. I also got in 80-90 oz. of water each day. I don’t know how people with jobs that don’t allow frequent bathroom visits drink enough water a day. I’ve also done my measurements and will check those on the 1st of every month and have been taking pics almost daily.
As far as my symptoms go, I wouldn’t say much has changed yet. My foot was actually feeling pretty good until I landed hard on the front of it during pickleball. It’s still not as bad as it was though and I’ve even been able to wear my slippers around the house this past weekend without pain. I usually live in slippers in the winter so it’s been nice being able to slip them back on. My hands are still numbing up quite a bit especially at night. My body still feels like one huge bruise and I wouldn’t say I have a ton more energy yet but I’m looking forward to the day when all of this hopefully does get better.
As far as my other goals for this year, I’ve kept up with the “Read the Bible in a Year” plan that I’m doing with some other ladies and have been able to fit in a chapter of Oola for Christians most days. The biggest unknown right now, is figuring out how to make a flexible income in the next 9 months. If you have any great ideas for me, feel free to comment. :).
Cheers,
Dawn
