Phew! We’re barely 7 days in and March has already been a chaotic month, hence the reason I am just sitting down now to put my thoughts together on February.
I honestly didn’t have a lot of disappointment in February. Could I have lost more? Absolutely, but I did great things for my body and overall wellness in February so for that I’m grateful and looking forward to March.
Okay, now onto the good stuff for the month!
- I went from 173.6 to 168.4…much of that was due to the 14 day reset and I’m looking forward to starting that again on Monday. It ended on the 26th and I haven’t been doing fantastic on food since then BUT, it’s also been leading up to my Birthday yesterday and so I’ve been enjoying treats but also eating good for me food. I also lost a total of of 10.5 inches off my body. 7 of them doing the reset. I am super happy about that.
- I worked on every aspect of wellness this month.
- Physical wellness: I worked hard on nutrition keeping to a mostly paleo diet during the 14 day reset and drinking some much delicious NingXia Red. This is huge for me because inflammation is a huge cause of my pain. I also started the 40/40 challenge walking 1 mile a day, I did a 10 day workout challenge through Svelte life community and also by the 2nd week of doing the reset, I had enough energy to start C25K again! I haven’t done it this week and I do think I’m going to go back and do week 1 again and probably do each week 2x before moving on to really build up my endurance but I’m so excited I’ve been able to do it.
- Emotional wellness: Again this month, I took time for self care. I did 2 different red light therapy sessions at 2 different places. Revive in LaCrosse and Kelbel Health in Onalaska. Although, I can’t afford to keep doing them, I loved them and it is where the other 3.5 inches came off from. They measure you before and after to show how effective it was. I also learned and this is super embarrassing but I’m doing my best to be super vulnerable and share it all because I know there’s people just like me struggling with this that I have over 47% body fat. That is just no healthy or okay so it gave me motivation to keep going even when I don’t feel like it.
- Financial wellness: I did spend more money in February than I did in January because I got all the kids Easter basket stuff and did those Red light sessions. I continue to listen to books on Audible about finances and it has been a frequent topic of conversation between Justin and I whereas before, I never wanted to talk about finances.
- Spiritual wellness: I’m continuing to do the “Read the Bible in a year” plan with a group of ladies through the Bible app. I’m about a week behind right now but I’ll work on catching up this weekend. I am also going through the book of Luke as part of the 40/40 challenge and am really enjoying reading the account of Jesus’ life.
As for the books I read/listened to this month:
- I finished “Killing Sacred Cows” by Garrett Gundersen and then also listened to his book “Disrupting Sacred Cows” which was an easier listen for me than his first book.
- “If You Ask Me” by Betty White. If you’re a fan, you’ll enjoy it. She’s just such a delightful lady.
- “Mom Babble” by Mary Katherine Backstrom. This will make you smile, laugh and say “Amen Sister” to the antics she’s been through. My Sister recommended it to me and it was actually a free listen. Loved it and I’ve downloaded another one of her books but haven’t gotten to it yet. She also has a blog by the same name I believe but I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.
- “Forever Boy: A Mother’s Memoir of Autism and Finding Joy” by Kate Swenson. Oh my gosh…so, so good. So heartbreaking at times but I highly recommend to everyone. Even if you don’t have a kiddo on the spectrum, it would just give you insight into what goes on for those that do. And obviously, we all go through different things. M is high functioning so we haven’t been through a lot of what this woman and her family has.
- “Six Figure Side Hustle” by Rachel Rodgers. Another great one to give you steps on how to setup and proceed with a side hustle.
So those are the books I finished in February thanks to my Door Dashing gig. It gives me so much time to listen. Also, speaking of Door Dash, right now they’re doing a referral promo so if you’re interested in making some extra money please use my link:

Ok, back to books! Currently listening to “Goodbye, Things” by Fumio Sasaki about minimalism. Helpful as we get ready to pack up and move again!
Currently still reading the book I started last month because it’s much easier to fit in listening to books then it is reading them.
Goals for March:
Physical Wellness:
- Keep the workouts up. At least 5 out of 7 days but I’m hoping I’ll fit in some kind of movement every day.
- Keep striving for better nutrition. Find some new yummy recipes.
- Finishing up the 40/40 challenge.
- Keep doing C25K.
Emotional wellness:
- Keep reading books to help me in this area.
- Implement those small shifts. Taking that time to breathe. Rewarding myself with self care which for me looks like a mani or pedi, a facial, getting my hair done, spa treatments, anything that’s not a delicious sweet.
- Working really hard on staying calm in my kid’s hard moments. I tend to get triggered and then we’re all just yelling and it never helps and never works. M has been having a really hard time lately keeping small problems small and has been having a big reaction to all things that don’t go her way. Not taking it personally and keeping calm is something I am really focusing on this month.
Financial wellness:
- Continue reading/listening to books that help me further understand gaining assets and making the best out of them.
- Finding my purpose and turning it into something people want or need in their lives. If you have any ideas of things you think I’d be good at, feel free to send them my way.
- Keep my spending low this month. Not purchase any material things that I need to find a place for in this house.
- Continue selling what we don’t need and door dashing.
Spiritual wellness:
- Continue keeping up with my Bible reading.
- Take the time to pray more.
- 40/40 challenge.
- This could go under emotional wellness also but I started a Gratitude journal last night so just making sure I’m writing down 3 things each day that I’m grateful and Thank God for.
All in all, February was a great month and I’m looking forward to finishing March out strong and making this next year around the sun my best one yet!!!
I hope you are enjoying my blog and if there’s anything you’d like to see more of on here like certain topics: how we do things around here, working with kids with Autism, Foster Care, Adoption, Meals, Workouts, etc., feel free to comment and let me know!
Cheers,
Dawn
